Okay... so on to our end of summer activities. First we went down to Indio with my mom and dad. It was our end of summer "big" vacation and it was so relaxing! We stayed at our timeshare and had a wonderful 2 room unit. Since it is so hot in Indio- we're talking 110 degrees during the day with VERY dry desert heat- we spent most of the day in the pool or napping in the cool unit- WONDERFUL! While we were there we had our family "Airplane Day" (otherwise known as the day we got Calen). Since we want this to be a special day every year for our son we (Allen, Calen & I) decided to brave the heat and went to a desert zoo... yes, it was as hot as it sounds! Probably hotter actually, but it was worth it as Calen got to see Giraffe's and those are his favorite animals! :-) We went out to dinner that night with my parents and just had a very enjoyable day remembering what it was like to hold Calen in our arms for the first time a year ago that day!

We got back from Indio on a friday evening, had one last weekend as a family of 3 and then Allen went back to school. I still had a week and a day off and my parents were taking my sister to the coast for a couple of nights and they asked me to join with calen. We didn't go both nights but the night we went we ended up going to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and had some fun watching Calen freak out riding the baby whales for the first time by himself- it was really classic to watch all these toddlers having a blast on the ride but watching Calen cry and want off- Poor kid!!! He did enjoy "Driving" the pepsi truk though and we got lots of good pictures of that! Before the Boardwalk we took Calen to the beach WITH the same result as earlier in the summer. He still hated the sand and curled up his toes for about a 1/2 hour after we left the sand... he is so eccentric! ;-)
This is what he does with his feet when he touchs sand *sigh*

Look at that sad and unhappy face :-(

He loves to "drive" already! Oh boy...

mmmmmm... cotton candy!

After we returned from the beach trip Calen and I had some quiet days at home and I just enjoyed getting to be with him. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and I will have some more updates coming within the next few weeks from stuff we've been up to the past month :-D
