Our Disneyland update!
C, A and I went to Disneyland right before Christmas 2008 and we had a blast! The drive down was actually pretty terrible- I didn't realize how much longer a 6+ hour trip could be with a 14 month old baby in the backseat... YUCK! We encountered very cold and slightly icey conditions while going over the Grapevine as it had snowed earlier in the day... It was so beautiful though!
Once we finally got into our resort, C had fun running around and getting energy out and then he slept through the night- which was probably the last time he has done that in the past month! We got up and hit the ART bus to Disneyland and played around in Fantasyland and Toon Town for about 3 hours... the first ride we took C on was Peter Pan and I think we scared him a little too much with the dark and the "swooping" movement and sound effects... So then we tried to stick to things that were lighthearted like the Casey Jr. Train- which C loved and toon town where Mickey "lives" ;-) C was a little afraid of Mickey at first, but the person in the Mickey suit was awesome and gave mama a big kiss and then C warmed up to him... After that we walked through Mickey's house and then there was what I like to call the "changing of the mickey's" (old mickey goes on break through the exit in his house, new mickey walks out of a different cast entrance on the outside of the house)- haha... The "old"mickey came back up to us and played with C for a few seconds and C was so cute he gave him a big kiss! After that we tried to visit Minnie and Goofy but kept getting crowded out so we left to the resort for NAP TIME! The rest of the day we hung out in the resort and then went to have a super nice dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (my fav!) that was next to the resort. Dada took Calen into the baby pool that night and Mama got to enjoy a few minutes in the spa!!!
The next day we spent some more time in Fantasyland riding the Carousel, which C loved, and Dumbo... This day went so much better and was so much more fun than the first day at Disneyland with C... he had warmed up to the crowds, the rides and the characters! He got to see Mickey, Minnie, Tigger and Pooh and gave them all kisses- so much FUN! Then that evening we got together with one of our "old" Mission Springs buddies, Amy. We went back to Disneyland to have dinner, ride Pirates of the Caribbean and watch the Christmas parade. It was great to catch up with Amy and C warmed right up to her instantly which was awesome to see! Amy left around 7:30 that night and that's when we FINALLY made it to California Adventure where we quickly realized that there wasn't much for a 14 month old to do. We rode all the little kid rides in It's A Bug's Life area and then we shopped, bought C his first pair of Mickey Ears and then we waved bye, bye to our first and very successful Disneyland trip!
We had so much fun and I honestly can't wait to take him back during the summer or next Christmas season... C is a Mickey Fan just like his mama and it is so fun to see his "excitment" when we are in the midst of the Disneyland Magic...
